Higher Ground, which marks actress Vera Farmiga's directing debut, will be distributed by Sony Pictures Classics.
The distrib has picked up rights in North America, Australia and New Zealand to the Sundance entry.
Higher Ground screened at the dramatic competition at Sundance and stars Farmiga as well as John Hawkes, Donna Murphy and Joshua Leonard.
The story follows the experiences of a woman (Farmiga) and her husband (Leonard) in an evangelical Christian community. Script comes from Carolyn S. Briggs and Tim Metcalfe, based on Briggs' autobiographical book "This Dark World: A Memoir of Salvation Found and Lost."
BCDF's Claude Dal Farra, Renn Hawkey, Carly Hugo, Jon Rubinstein and Matt Parker produced the film. Serving as executive producers Lauren Munsch, Brice Dal Farra and Jonathan Burkhart.
Aside from Higher Ground, Farmiga can be seen next in Source Code with Jake Gyllenhaal and Michelle Monaghan which opens on April 1st this year. Her credits, among others, include Up in the Air, Orphan and Running Scared
