Veteran actor Steve Landesberg died Friday from cancer after a long career as a stand up comic and actor in films like “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and the acclaimed TV sitcom “Barney Miller.”
According to “Deadline” Landesberg passed away in New York and is survived by his wife Nancy and his daughter.
Landesberg received multiple Emmy nominations for his role as Detective Arthur Dietrich on “Barney Miller,” which ran on ABC from 1975-82.
Landesberg recently appeared on an episode of the A&E drama “The Cleaner.” He also appeared as a recurring character on “Head Case” the Starz sitcom about Hollywood stars and their equally nutty Beverly Hills therapist Dr. Elizabeth Goode (Alexandra Wentworth). On “Head Case,” Landesberg played fellow therapist Dr. Myron Finkelstein.
Landesberg also appeared in the documentary “You Don’t Know Jack: The Jack Soo Story,” about his “Barney Miller” costar Jack Soo, who played Detective Nick Yemana.
