Simon Baker and Paul Bettany are in talks to join the indie drama "Margin Call."
Written by and helmed by J.C. Chandor, the story tells of employees of an investment bank during a tumultuous 24-hour period taking place during the financial collapse of 2008.
Baker would play a ruthless, high-powered securities broker who oversees the characters played by Stanley Tucci, Kevin Spacey, Stanley Tucci and Zachary Quinto, driving his colleagues to win by any means necessary.
Bettany will play a top-tier trader. Quinto produces alongside his Before the Door Pictures partners Neal Dodson and Corey Moosa as well as Joe Jenckes and Benaroya Pictures' Michael Benaroya and Robert Ogden Barnum.
Film starts next week in New York.
Baker can be seen next in Michael Winterbottom's "The Killer Inside Me" with opposite Casey Affleck, Jessica Alba and Kate Hudson.
Bettany recently finished "The Tourist" with Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie and stars as a vampire hunter in the post-apocalyptic "Priest."
