Universal’s will develop its first local-language French film called “Serge Gainsbourg (vie heroique)” which will be based on the life of Gaul’s iconic singer-songwriter Serge Gainsbourg.
This marks the directorial debut of graphic novelist Joann Sfar. Eric Elmosnino ("Illusions, "Atrices," "Gentille") will star as Gainsbourg, a man known for his glamorous lovers which included Jane Birkin and Brigitte Bardot.
Laetitia Casta, the French model will apparently play Bardot. Mylene Jampanoi ("Martyrs," "Choisir d'aimer") is set to play Gainsbourg’s Bambou and Anna Mouglalis ("Mare nero") will play French singer Juliette Greco.
Filming starts on January 19th in Paris for thirteen weeks. Marc du Pontavice and Didier Lupfer will produce along with Sfar who is working the screenplay.
