How to Catch a Monster will star Christina Hendricks in Ryan Gosling's directorial debut, helming from his own script. Variety reports that Marc Platt and Adam Siegel of Marc Platt Productions are producing alongside Gosling and his Phantasma Films company as well as Bold Films' David Lancaster and Michel Litvak.
The dark fairytale takes place against dreamscape of a vanishing city and follows a single mom of two kids who is swept into a dark fantastical underworld while her teen son finds a secret road which leads to an underwater town.
Aside from How to Catch a Monster, Gosling, who was last seen in Drive, Crazy, Stupid, Love and The Ides of March, is up next alongside Bradley Cooper and Eva Mendes in The Place Beyond the Pines, set to premiere at this year's Toronto International Film Festival. The helmer and Gosling worked together on Blue Valentine.
