Scott Alexander, Larry Karaszewski's Big Eyes casts Ryan Reynolds, Reese Witherspoon
Tim Burton is set to produce the biopic on Margaret and Walter Keane, which will be helmed as well as scripted by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski.
Lynette Howell and Jamie Patricof also produce with Tim Burton Productions via their Electric City Entertainment and production is scheduled to being this spring, reports Variety.
Big Eyes is based on a story of the Keanes' pop-eyed paintings and 1960s worldwide phenomenon. However, their lives where filled with controversy; Margaret was the real talent who lived in obscurity and Walter claimed all the credit and enjoyed the fame.
Directors Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski said that they "are ecstatic to have this dream cast for our dream project. Walter is a larger-than-life antihero -- charming, funny, dangerous, and a little crazy. Ryan will knock it out of the park. As for Reese, she will be perfect as Margaret -- soulful, decent, transforming from vulnerability to learning to fight for herself."
Reynolds can be seen next in Universal's thriller Safe House, alongside Denzel Washington, and Witherspoon's in Fox's action comedy This Means War helmed by McG and starring Chris Pine and Tom Hardy.
Karaszewski and Alexander worked together with Burton on Ed Wood.
