Karey Kirkpatrick, David Ronn. Jay Scherick, J. David Stern and David N. Weiss script with a set release date of July 31st next year. The first Smurfs movie opened July 29th, 2011 with $35.6 million before closing off with a domestic cume of $142.6 million, and overseas coin of $421.1 million ($563.7 worldwide). What the sequel will do, remains to be seen.
In The Smurfs 2, the Smurfs team up with their human friends in order to rescue Smurfette (Katy Perry) after Gargamel kidnaps her because she knows a secret spel that can turn his Naughties creation into real Smurfs.
