The details surrounding Amy Schumer’s script for her upcoming comedy Train Wreck remained under tight wraps despite its months in development. Variety did report on one key detail today. Producer Judd Apatow, originally a producer on Train Wreck, took on directing duties as well. For a director and producer long criticized for too many “buddy” comedies in the vein of The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Pineapple Express, Train Wreck looked to continue his recent trend in producing female comedies from Bridesmaids to HBO’s Girls.
Apatow is also producing Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues as well as new film projects with Pee-Wee Herman, Bridesmaids director Paul Feig and comic Aziz Ansari.
Train Wreck with Amy Schumer looks to be Apatow’s next directing gig. In addition to her first leading role in a feature film, Schumer will also return to Comedy Central for a second season of Inside Amy Schumer.
