James Gunn's Guardian's of the Galaxy has Avatar's Zoe Saldana is in negotiations for the part of Gamora in the Marvel Studios film, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
Gamora is a deadly assassin with green screen, and last of a species exterminated by the Badoon race.
If she wins the role, Saldana would join Chris Pratt
who plays Star-Lord as well as Man with the Iron Fists
' Dave Bautista
who boarded recently as Drax the Destroyer.
The sci-fi adventure follows Peter Quill/Star Lord (played by Pratt), a U.S. pilot who winds up in space during a universal conflict, then goes on the run with ex-convicts who have something in their possession that everyone wants.
Guardians of the Galaxy stars filming in June with a release date set for August 1st, 2014. production start date.
Saldana can be seen next in J.J. Abrams Star Trek Into Darkness reprising her role as Uhura (shown above) in the film which debuts on May 17th. She's also in Guillaume Canet's Blood Ties with Mila Kunis, Marion Cotillard, Clive Owen, Billy Crudup, James Caan and Lili Taylor.
Other credits include Cynthia Mort's Nina music drama, which is currently in post-production phase, as is Scott Cooper's Out of the Furnace. The latter includes Christian Bale, Woody Harrelson, Willem Dafoe, Casey Affleck, Forest Whitaker, Boyd Holbrook and Sam Shepard.
She'll be back for James Cameron's Avatar 2 as Neytiri.
