Jumanji gets reboot via Stranger than Fiction writer Zach Helm
The 1995 family adventure Jumanji, based on the book by Chris van Allsburg, which originally starred Robin Williams, Jonathan Hyde, Kirsten Dunst, Bradley Pierce and Bonnie Hunt, has landed a scribe in Zach Helm. Matt Tolmach and Bill Teitler produce the new film while Mike Weber and Ted Field serve as executive producers.
The first pic helmed by Captain America's Joe Johnston, told of a supernatural board game titled "Jumanji" discovered by two kids. Once they start playing, they unleashing various forces from the jungle and come across Alan Parrish (Williams), a man trapped in the game for decades. Together, dodging a hunter out to land Williams as a trophy, they must finish the game, which is destined to bring in another player in Parish's friend Sarah Whittle (Hunt), who years before fled the game in horror, and now has to take her turn.
