This weekend's movie box office, comedy Bridesmaids and horror Priest take on Thor for top honors with a buffet of genres on offer.
Universal's Bridesmaids debuts in 2,917 theaters, holding solid critic reviews and mediocre user reviews. Paul Feig directs the comedy from the screenplay by Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo, which stars Wiig as well as Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ellie Kemper, Melissa McCarthy, Chris O’Dowd, Jon Hamm and Matt Lucas.
From Screen Gems, Priest 3D debuts in 2,864 theaters, reuniting Paul Bettany with his Legion director Scott Charles Stewart. This one's being mauled by critics and shouldn't have little chance for a top spot over Bridesmaids. Cast also includes Karl Urban, Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q, Lily Collins, Brad Dourif, Stephen Moyer and Christopher Plummer.
Films in more limited venues include:
Will Ferrell starrer Everything Must Go in 225 theaters via Roadside Attractions.
Lionsgate's Go For It! finds 218 theaters, starring Aimee Garcia and Al Bandiero in dance drama.
