Warner Bros. Issues Statement - No Box Office Reporting Throughout the Weekend for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

07/21/2012 by Peter Dimako | Source: Hollywood.com

The Dark Knight Rises box office figures will not be reported from Warner Bros. Pictures due to the tragic events that took place at a midnight screening in Denver, Colorado. A heavily armed gunman shot 70 people, killing 12 and injuring 58. According to The New York Daily News, the gunman James Holmes, dressed in heavy body armor, carrying three high-powered guns, lobbed tear gas into the packed theater on Friday, and began firing on innocent viewers.

NYPD Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly stated that Holmes said he was the Joker, enemy of Batman.

Warner Bros. Pictures issued a statement saying “Out of respect for the victims and their families, Warner Bros. Pictures will not be reporting box office numbers for “The Dark Knight Rises” throughout the weekend.  Box office numbers will be released on Monday.”

In light of this event, Upcoming-Movies.com will not be proving any box office data for the entire weekend until stats are in from Warner Bros. We bow our heads in sorrow for all those whose lives have been lost, and for their friends and family members. Our deepest sympathies.
