Opening up this week's debuting films with the widest theater count is Warner Bros. Pictures' Argo helmed by Ben Affleck, who also stars alongside a strong cast of Kyle Chandler, John Goodman, Clea DuVall, Michael Parks, Alan Arkin, Tate Donovan, Adrienne Barbeau, Chris Messina, Titus Welliver, Richard Kind and Taylor Schilling. Pic has over 3,250 theaters and is scripted by Chris Terrio from the article by Joshuah Bearman.
Affleck stars as CIA hostage expert Tony Mendez, who led the covert mission to free the six U.S. embassy employees hiding in the Canadian embassy in Tehran by portraying the six guests as a Hollywood film crew scouting locations for a movie called Argo, perhaps he also planned to take part in his elaborate rehearsals.
Sony's Here Comes the Boom comedy meets MMA actioner / romance film opens in around 3,000 theaters. Popular Kevin James frontlines a cast including Salma Hayek, Henry Winkler, Joe Rogan, Bas Rutten and Reggie Lee. Frank Coraci, who's collaborated with James previously Zookeeper, helms from the script by Allan Loeb, Rock Reuben and James.
Here, James plays Scott Voss who's a former collegiate wrestler (Kevin James) now a apathetic biology teacher in a failing high school. When cutbacks threaten to cancel the music program and lay off its teacher (Henry Winkler,) Scott begins to raise money by moonlighting as a mixed martial arts fighter. Everyone thinks Scott is crazy – most of all the school nurse, Bella (Salma Hayek) – but in his quest, Scott gains something he never expected as he becomes a sensation that rallies the entire school.
In the Sinister horror, star Ethan Hawke plays a true crime novelist who discovers a box of mysterious, disturbing home movies that plunge his family into a nightmarish experience of supernatural horror.Catch this one in 2,500 theaters, with a supporting cast including Vincent D'Onofrio, James Ransone, Fred Dalton Thompson, Clare Foley and Juliet Rylance. Remember The Exorcism of Emily Rose from director Scott Derrickson? This is the same helmed, who co-writes the film alongsidfe C. Robert Cargill. Not for the faint-hearted, so bring some dark shades to hide under, it looks super-scary.
If you're up for a hilarious comedy, then look no further than CBS Films' Seven Psychopaths, powered by a talent cast lead by Colin Farrell, Christopher Walken, Sam Rockwell, Abbie Cornish and Olga Kurylenko. Pic follows a struggling screenwriter (Colin Farrell) who inadvertently becomes entangled in the Los Angeles criminal underworld after his oddball friends (Christopher Walken and Sam Rockwell) kidnap a gangster’s (Woody Harrelson) beloved Shih Tzu.
Cast of the Martin McDonagh-directed-and-written film also has Tom Waits, Kevin Corrigan, Gabourey Sidibe, Brendan Sexton III and Zelkso Ivanek on board
