Universal Pictures and Montecito Picture Company began prep work on a sequel to one of the ‘80s biggest comedies, TWINS, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito as twin brothers.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Schwarzenegger and DeVito signed on to headline the planned sequel, TRIPLETS, with the added gag of Eddie Murphy joining as the third brother.
Ivan Reitman, who directed Twins, signed on to produce Triplets along with his Montecito Picture Co. partners Joe Medjuk, Tom Pollock and Ali Bell. Reitman did not yet confirm a new director for Triplets or writers to hash out the treatment into a fully formed comedy.
DeVito is currently in the spotlight as the voice of The Lorax in the animated comedy from Universal Pictures.
Up next for Schwarzenegger is director Simon West's The Expendables 2 on August 17, 2012. Schwarzenegger also starts work on the supernatural action movie Black Sunday April 1 in New Mexico.
Fans, are you excited to see Schwarzenegger reunite with DeVito for a Twins sequel or are you hopeful that director Justin Lin and producer Megan Ellison of Annapurna Pictures will soon make announcements regarding a production start date for Terminator 5 so Schwarzenegger can reprise his iconic role as the killer cyborg?
