Universal has won the the bidding war for David Guggenheim's Black Box thriller spec script concerning Air Force One crashing on American soil, and a an investigator who learns that technical difficulty wasn't to blame but the plane was actually shot down.
Variety reports that Scott Stuber is set to produce the film from the scribe of Safe House, via Madhouse Entertainment.
Universal's relationship with Guggenheim made the distributor a likely winner to pick up Black Boxl, with Disney and DreamWorks other possible nabbers.
Guggenheim, who worked as editor for US Weekly, has also been tapped to write a sequel for Safe House for Universal.
