Disney's moving forward with a TRON: Legacy sequel and has Jesse Wigutow in talks to script the film which sees the return of helmer Joseph Kosinski, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
The first film which featured TRON star Jeff Bridges, alongside Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Martin Sheen, Beau Garrett and Bruce Boxleitner, opened December 17th, 2010 with a mediocre $44 million, before ending off with $177 million domestically. Overseas, the sci-fi pic made $228 million, making its worldwide cume over $400 million from a $170 million production budget. A sequel would work well, and very likely topple the first film's N. American total.
Of course, there are no plot details as yet on the upcoming TRON: Legacy sequel which had an earlier draft from David DiGilio.
Wigutow has credits for writing the absolutely appalling Eragon, as well as two upcoming remakes in Summit Entertainment's The Osterman Weekend and Relativity Media's The Crow - a film which should never have been considered for a reboot in my opinion.
