Derick Martini's The Curse of Downers Grove has cast Tom Arnold in the indie thriller. He joins Bella Heathcote, Lucas Till and Kevin Zegers, reports Variety. The film, adapted from the novel by Michael Hornburg, follows a paranoid school senior concerned about a curse that kills one student each year at the school.
In the film scripted by Martini and Bret Easton Ellis, Arnold would play an abusive father who supplies steroids to his son (played by Zegers), powering him up for a professional career.
Downey's Grove's being produced by Jason Dubin, Oren Segal and Chiara Trento.
Arnold turned in a solid, and memorable performance in the comedy action pic Hit & Run which was co-directed by star Dax Shepard, and also included Kristen Bell, Bradley Cooper and Kristin Chenoweth. Prior to that, he was in Madea's Witness Protection, Grassroots, Jewtopia, Last Call and several episodes of Sons of Anarchy. He's currently in post production on Dumbbells with Mircea Moore, Jay Mohr, Taylor Cole, Jaleel White, Carl Reiner and Andy Milonakis. His most-memorable performance to me, by far, was in James Cameron's 1994 actioner True Lies with Arnold Schwarzenneger.
