The Kristen Wiig, Annette Bening, Matt Dillon, Darren Criss and Natasha Lyonne comedy Imogene from American Splendor and The Extra Man's Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini, has been picked up by Lionsgate after it's Toronto International Film Festival premiere, acquiring U.S. distribution rights.
In Imogene, Wiig plays a washed-up playwright who fakes her own suicide in order to get the attention of her ex-boyfriend, and ends up being remanded to the custody of a dysfunctional family including a gambling addict (Bening).
Michelle Morgan wrote the script for the Pulcini and Springer Berman-helmed project which Lionsgate plans to release along with partner Roadside Attractions.
Maven Pictures' Celine Rattray who produced The Kids Are All Right, also with Bening, as well as Julianne Moore, Mark Ruffalo, Mia Wasikowska and Josh Hutcherson, produces with partner Trudie Styler, alongside Alix Madigan and Mark Amin of Anonymous Content.
