Box office sees The Devil Inside top charts.
The only wide opener this weekend impressed with a big $34.5 million gross, averaging $15,098 from 2,285 theaters. William Brent-Bell-directed pic, enjoyed another clever marketing campaign by Paramount Pictures, who boosted Paranormal Activity to first position and a fruitful gross. This obviously had a much bigger budget when comparing $1 million vs. Paranormal Activity's miniscule $15,000 first-film budget.

Paramount aren't complaining with holding the first two spots at the box office as Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol showed a minimal 40% change in its fourth weekend at play, pulling in $20.5 million. Brad Bird's actioner starring Tom Cruise, Paula Patton, Simon Pegg and Jeremy Renner, has amassed over $170.2 million domestically thus far.
In third, Warner Bros. Pictures' Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, starring Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law and Noomi Rapace, also stayed on well for helmer Guy Ritchie in weekend number four, posting an estimated $14.5 million, and bringing its stateside cume to over the magic $150 million gross, with around $157.4 million earned.
Sony's winning The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo English-language flick dropped just 23%, grossing $11.4 million. The David Fincher movie with Rooney Mara, Daniel Craig, Stellan Skarsgård, Robin Wright and Christopher Plummer starring, has posted around $76.83 million domestically, with a $90 million production budget.
Ending the top five list, Fox's Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked family flick showed a 42% change in weekend four, adding $9.5 million, and bringing its U.S. gross to over $111.5 million.
