Fans of the twisty fantasy series The Event weren’t too surprised when NBC failed to renew the low-rated series for a second season. After all, NBC took the show off the air for a number of months in the hope that its superhero drama The Cape would become a hit (It didn’t). According to EW, execs at the genre cable channel SyFy, which happens to be owned by NBC-Universal, began talks to pick up The Event as a miniseries.
Event executive producer and showrunner Evan Katz, director Jeffrey Reiner or creator and co-executive producer Nick Wauters did not comment on the news of the show’s potential leap to SyFy.
Fingers crossed that Jason Ritter returns as Sean Walker, Sarah Roemer as his fiancée Leila and Blair Underwood as President Elias Martinez.
Still, no matter which cast members return for a potential miniseries and which do not, Event fans, you have to admit a continuation of the conspiracy tale in any capacity is a good thing.
