Darren Lynn Bousman The Barrens story of Jersey Devil casts True Blood star Stephen Moyer.
Pic is being described as being in the vein of Stephen King stories like The Shining and produced by The Genre Company, reports Variety.
Film is set for release next fall by Anchor Bay and follows Moyer as a man who takes his family on a camping trip to the dense forest area of the New Jersey Pine Barrens. While there, he believes that some legendary winged creature is stalking them. Apparently, this beast looks like some kind of deformed mix of several kinds of animals. Interesting.
Apparently, Bousman told Variety that he doesn't want to turn The Jersey Devil into a cheesy creature flick. "It's about the characters for me, and having watched Stephen for years on 'True Blood,' I have no doubt he's the right leading man."
The Jersey Devil's been around for hundreds of years, and has become a big name, like Big Foot and The Loch Ness Monster.
