Superhero fans learned the identity of the actor who will play the long-running action character Oliver Queen, a liberal billionaire who secretly fights crime as the masked archer extraordinaire known as the Green Arrow, in a CW action drama based on the DC comic book.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stephen Amell, recently seen in episodes of Private Practice and the CW series The Vampire Diaries, as well as a recurring character on the short-lived HBO drama Hung, signed on to play the comic book hero in the CW pilot.
Greg Berlanti co-wrote the pilot with Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg.
GREEN ARROW looked to be the first DC Comics hero to return to The CW since its Superman series Smallville finished its 10-year run.
Berlanti co-wrote the summer movie Green Lantern, based on another DC character, with fellow screenwriters Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green. Berlanti also finished a script for The Flash with an ensemble of co-writers with plans to direct the DC comics adventure for Warner Bros.
Green Arrow followed Berlanti's most recent TV work as the executive producer and writer on the long-running ABC drama Brothers & Sisters and the creator and executive producer on the short-lived superhero family drama No Ordinary Family.
Green Arrow fans, are you confident that Berlanti and Amell will do your comic book character proud?
