Weinstein Co's eagerly-anticipated crime thriller Lawless is based on the book "The Wettest Country in the World" by Matt Bondurant, adapted for the screen by Nick Cave.
John Hillcoat (The Road) directs the film set in Prohibition-era Virginia, follows the infamous Bondurant Brothers - two bootleggers who are threatened by authorities who want their cut of the profits. who take the law into their own hands.
Also in the cast are Gary Oldman, Mia Wasikowska, Guy Pearce, Jason Clarke, Noah Taylor, Dane DeHaan, Lew Temple and Bruce McKinnon.
