Writers Andrew Cohen and Brendan O’Brien not only sold a comedy pitch to Universal Pictures but also landed Seth Rogen and Zac Efron as costars.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rogen’s longtime producing partner Evan Goldberg helped finalize the deal for Rogen to play an average Joe character who competes against a popular college frat boy played by Efron.
Rogen and Goldberg also joined the film as producers via their Point Grey production company, along with James Weaver and Cohen and O’Brien.
Cohen and O’Brien recently sold the comedy pitch The Best Thing About Pam Rooney to Universal.
Up next for Efron are roles in the ensemble comedy New Year’s Eve and the Iraqi vet drama The Lucky One for director Scott Hicks.
The next films for Rogen are director Jonathan Levine’s comedy 50/50 co-starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Anna Kendrick as well as the road comedy My Mother’s Curse co-starring Barbra Streisand.
