Spike Jonze project may land Rooney Mara of 'Dragon Tattoo' with Joaquin Phoenix.
Rooney Mara is in final negotiations for the part that was originally up for Carey Mulligan, who dropped out due to scheduling conflicts, reports Variety.
Joaquin Phoenix stars in the untitled pic alongside Amy Adams and Samantha Morton, which Jonze is helming from his own script. The story follows a man who falls in love with a voice of a computer.
Megan Ellison produces via Annapurna Pictures and it's unclear as to what part Mara will have in the film at this point.
Should she nab the part, Mara will start work after finishing duties on Steven Soderbergh's The Bitter Pill crime drama with Channing Tatum, Jude Law, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Vinessa Shaw.
This would mark Jonze's first time at the helm since 2009's Where the Wild Things Are.
