Sony Pictures continued to act quickly on its newly acquired action thriller WHITE HOUSE DOWN with Deadline reporting that Anonymous director Roland Emmerich began talks to helm the movie. Sony Pictures just last week paid $3 million for scriptwriter Jamie Vanderbilt’s action drama spec WHITE HOUSE DOWN. Vanderbilt also signed on to produce the movie with his Mythology Entertainment partners Brad Fischer and Laeta Kalogridis.
Vanderbilt stayed busy working on the treatment for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 confident that his story for The Amazing Spider-Man will help make the superhero tent pole a hit this summer.
Emmerich surprised his fans last fall with his Shakespeare drama Anonymous but White House Down looked to be a return to the epic action genre of Emmerich’s best known movies The Day After Tomorrow, 2012 and 10,000 BC.
Emmerich also remained attached to direct two sequels to his hit alien invaders movie Independence Day as well as an adaptation of the popular arcade game Asteroids.
Fans, are you excited to see the results of Vanderbilt’s script for The Amazing Spider-Man? What do you think he has in store for White House Down?
