Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer, starring Jordana Beatty and Heather Graham, will be distributed and theatrical marketed by Relativity Media. Smokewood Entertainment’s feature film is directed by John Schultz (Like Mike, Aliens in the Attic), and stars Australian actress Beatty (Superman Returns) as Judy Moody alongside Graham (The Hangover).
The film, which is set for a Summer 2011 wide release, follows Judy Moody’s adventures in which she sets out to have the most thrilling summer of her life with the help of her little brother Stink (Parris Mosteller) and fun-loving Aunt Opal (Graham).
Kathy Waugh wrote the screenplay for Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer with Megan McDonald, based on the characters in McDonald’s popular children’s book series which is illustrated by Peter H. Reynolds and published by Candlewick Press.
There are nine adventures in the bestselling series, which have sold over a massive 13 million copies in print worldwide, and been translated in 22 languages. McDonald has written a novel inspired by the film’s script which will be published May 24, 2011.
Sarah Siegel-Magness and Gary Magness of Smokewood are producing . This is the same team behind the Oscar-nominated Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire. Bobbi Sue Luther and Andrew Sugerman are serving as executive producers on Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer.
