Heaven is for Real lands Secretariat helmer Randall Wallace
Randall Wallace is set to take the helm of Sony's faith-based family film produced by Roth Films' Joe Roth as well as T.D. Jakes (current player Sparkle), reports Variety.
Based on Todd Burpo and Lynn Vincent's New York Times bestseller "Heaven Is for Real: A Little Boy's Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back," the story tells of Burpo's son's near-death experience and claim thereafter that he visited heaven. Family members and folks from the small town doubt him until the stories he tells identify people who've died.
Christopher Parker (Battle of the Year) scripts. Wallace, who scripted Oscar-winning Mel Gibson starrer Braveheart recently landed directing duties on Walden Media's World War II film Conscientious Objector.
