Playtone's Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman are to produce Parkland on the assassination of John F. Kennedy which marks writer Peter Landesman's directorial debut.
According to Variety, the film follows the events leading up to JFK's assassination as well as the documentation by Abraham Zapruder of the event.
The title of Parkland refers to the Parkland Memorial Hospital where Kennedy was taken on November 22nd, 1963 and later pronounced dead. Parkland was also where Kennedy's assassin Lee Harvey Oswald, and Oswald's killer Jack Ruby also died. Bizarre.
Parkland will apparently be an ensemble exploring the impact the assassination had on a wide range of characters in Dallas, and the surrounding areas, with characters in the mix like a young doctor, some Secret Service agents, Kennedy's staff, Oswald's older sibling and an FBI agent.
