Director Peter Jackson continued to build excitement for fans of The Hobbit with news of Pushing Daises star Lee Pace joining the two-film prequel to his Lord of the Rings Trilogy as the Elven King.
According to Deadline, Pace signed on to play Thranduil the Elven King after wrapping work on another high-profile fantasy franchise. Pace also played Garrett in director Bill Condon’s The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.
Fans recently received news that AMC Theaters planned to screen the extended version of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy starting June 14.
Reports on TheOneRing.net stated that The Fellowship of the Ring would screen Tuesday June 14 and The Two Towers would screen one week later on June 21 and The Return of the King would wrap the three-week promotion on June 28.
Watching the extended version of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy should keep fans energized for all things Middle Earth until the first of the two Hobbit movies hits theaters in 2012.
Better yet, maybe Peter Jackson will post some new production videos on his Facebook page?
