Indie drama Parkland about the assassination of John F. Kennedy has added James Badge Dale, Jackie Earle Haley, Colin Hanks, David Harbour and Ron Livingston. They join the previously-announced cast of Zac Efron, Marcia Gay Harden, Paul Giamatti, Billy Bob Thornton, Jeremy Strong and Jacki Weaver.
The film marks the feature directorial debut of writer Peter Landesman with filming starting in Austin, Texas today, reports Variety. The film gets its title from the Parland Memorial Hospital where Kennedy was taken on November 22nd, 1963, and then pronounced dead later.
Parkland follows the events leading up to the assassination including the documentation of the event by Abraham Zapruder.
A very strong cast on board this project from Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman's Playtone and Exclusive Media's Nigel Sinclair and Guy East. Also coming on board as co-financiers today are The American Film Company, as announced by producers.
Fittingly-enough, the movie's been scheduled to find theaters in 2013 and coincide with the 50th anniversary of Kennedy's assassination.
