Fans of Sacha Baron Cohen and his outrageous comedies Borat and Bruno got extra excited this week with Paramount Pictures unleashing the Super Bowl movie trailer (with a special poke at NBC) for his upcoming comedy THE DICTATOR as well as a digital site of The Dictator’s fictional homeland, the Republic of Wadiya (both in English and Wadiyan).
Baron Cohen reunited with his Borat and Bruno director Larry Charles for The Dictator; playing two roles in the film, a dictator trying to keep democracy out of his country and a goat herder.
Former Seinfeld writer David Mandel co-wrote The Dictator with Baron Cohen, Alec Berg and Jeff Schaffer.
Baron Cohen was last seen in Martin Scorsese's 3D period drama about the invention of film, Hugo, with his Dictator co-star Ben Kingsley. He also recently signed on to headline a remake of Spanish actor and director Santiago Segura's comedy franchise Torrente, about a politically incorrect Madrid detective named José Luis Torrente.
The Dictator starring Sacha Baron Cohen, John C. Reilly, Kingsley, Jason Mantzoukas, Anna Faris and Megan Fox opens May 11, 2012.
