The pre-production action on Paramount’s planned reboot of the cult classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles enjoyed a burst of life as the studio hired a pair of writers to tackle the high-profile project.
According to MTV, Paramount hired Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol writers Josh Appelbaum and Andrew Nemec to rewrite the first script from Iron Man and the Highlander writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway.
A fresh reboot from Paramount would breathe new life into the characters that debuted as a comic, enjoyed great success as a cartoon series, a live-action series and three live-action films under the New Line banner from 1990 through ’93. Of course, there are the countless DVDs, toys, video games and merchandise that must have Paramount excited since sister company Nickelodeon paid $60 million for global intellectual property rights to the Ninja Turtles.
Better yet, pundits are already calling the new Ninja Turtle franchise the next Transformers. Cowabunga!
