Steve Coogan, Stephen Dorff and Canadian rapper K'naan have joined The Catastrophist movie helmed by Nick Broomfield; an adaptation of the bestseler by Ronan Bennett.
The love story set against Belgian Congo's decolonization in the 1960s, is being produced by Broomfield via Lafayette Films as well as Escape Pictures' Paul Miller and UK's Channel 4.
Pic is being sold at this year's Toronto International Film Festival by eOne who has international rights.
The Catastrophist will film in the busy northern Tanzanian mining town of Mwanza as apparently filming in Congo was just too risky. This marks the first foreign feature film to be shot in Tanzania since Hatari! back in 1962, reports Variety. That film starred John Wayne.
Steve Coogan is in post-production on Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris' He Loves Me romantic comedy from Fox Searchlight Pictures. He's currently filming What Maisie Knew for director Scott McGehee and David Siegel. That film also stars Alexander Skarsgård and Julianne Moore.
Stephen Dorff's soon to be seen ripped to shreds in Relativity Media's upcoming Tarsem Singh epic adventure Immortals, alongside Superman Henry Cavill, Mickey Rourke, Freida Pinto, Luke Evans and Kellan Lutz. Catch that one on 11/11/11.
