Veteran music video director Marcus Nispel didn’t let down his genre fans with his bloody reboot last summer of Conan the Barbarian starring Jason Momoa as the classic Robert E. Howard character.
Nispel returned to his horror roots of his 2003 The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake and 2009 Friday the 13th remake by signing on to direct HACK/SLASH, based on the comic book about Cassie Hack, a girl who not only survives at the end of her horror adventure but becomes a slayer of horror movie-like monsters modeled after Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees and Freddy Kreuger.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Alexandra Milchan, Adrian Askarieh and Daniel Alter came aboard to produce Hack/Slash working with an original draft from various writers including Martin Schenk, Stephen Susco, Justin Marks and the comic’s original creators Tim Seeley and Stefano Caselli.
Nispel replaced orignal director Fredrik Bond.
Hack/Slash fans, you have to admit that Marcus Nispel is a perfect match to direct the comic. Are you excited about the movie adaptation now? Amy casting ideas about who should play Cassie Hack?
