Lucy Liu continued to earn good reviews for her gritty performance as Officer Jessica Tang on the TNT cop series Southland. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Liu stayed committed to TV dramas but flipped networks by joining the CBS Sherlock Holmes pilot ELEMENTARY.
Liu signed on to play Watson, alongside Jonny Lee Miller as Sherlock Holmes. Robert Doherty boarded Elementary, a reboot of Sherlock Holmes into present-day New York City, as writer and executive producer along with Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly.
With Elementary, Liu became the first woman to play Holmes’ assistant Watson.
In addition to Elementary, Liu will also be seen in the upcoming drama Meena; the martial arts adventure The Man wih the Iron Fists, alongside Russell Crowe and Jamie Chung with RZA directing, and Nomads, a drama about subway suicides.
Sherlock Holmes fans, what are your thoughts on Elementary? Do you think it can match the thrills of the BBC series Sherlock starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Holmes and Martin Freeman as Dr. John Watson in present-day London?
