Director Jack Bender built a strong fan base directing episodes of the fantasy shows Alias, Alphas, Alcatraz and the hit ABC drama Lost as well as the horror sequel Child’s Play 3.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bender signed on to helm his biggest feature yet, the fantasy title Devolution based on an original story idea from Max Brooks with David Leslie Johnson adapting Brooks’ story into a script.
Plot details about Devolution remained undisclosed, although its status as a genre picture became clear since Brooks wrote the zombie novel World War Z and Johnson worked on Wrath of the Titans.
Bender also remained attached to direct the teen horror 7 Minutes in Heaven, about two teens playing the classic party game only to emerge after spending seven minutes in a closet and finding all their friends dead. J.J. Abrams, who worked with Bender on Lost, also boarded 7 Minutes in Heaven as producer.
Bender was also attached at one time to direct the new Jack Ryan movie for Paramount but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts.
