Lindsay Lohan's first gig away from the L.A. courtroom was on The Tonight Show starring Jay Leno and she told the talk show host she planned to work hard to earn back the respect of her industry peers and to change the public’s perception about her.
“I made a lot of poor decisions and I’m dealing with the consequences of those decisions,” Lohan told Leno to enthusiastic applause from the audience.
Lohan appeared on the show in a silky black jumpsuit with a think gold belt cinched across her waist. Her clothes looked like they came out of a Mafia wife’s closet, appropriate since Lohan joined the cast of the mob drama Gotti: Three Generations.
Recently, Judge Stephanie Sautner sentenced the Mean Girls star to 480 hours of community service in addition to 120 days in jail for violating her parole after walking out a jewelry store with a $2,500 gold necklace around her neck in January. While Lohan posted $75K in bail in anticipation, Judge Sautner ordered Lohan to start her community service within a week. Sautner ordered the troubled actress to 360 hours at a Downtown L.A. women's center and 120 hours at the Mission Road coroner's office.
Leno asked Lohan if she thought the ruling was fair and the answer appeared to surprise him.
“I’m a big girl and I m going to do what I’m told to do,” Lohan answered. “I think I’m being treated the way I should be treated.”
