The Americans drama lands Keri Russell in lead for married spy couple drama.
Produced by Fox Television Studios and FX Productions, the story set in the 1980s looks at the complex arranged marriage of two KGB spies who pose posing as Americans living in Washington, D.C. However, the plot thickens when they start developing a love for each other as well as the U.S.
Variety repots that Russell plays the wife Elizabeth Jennings, but there's no lead as yet to play the husband Phillip. Joe Weisberg wrote the plot and will serve as executive producer, alongside Graham Yost, as well as Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey of DreamWorks Television. Warrior director Gavin O'Connor is on board to direct, that alone gets me much more hyped about the project.
The Americans is set to start production some time in late spring.
