NBC's Crossbones has landed John Malkovich as Blackbeard in the new action adventure series created by Neil Cross, who executive produces with Laurie MacDonald and Walter Parkes, reports Deadline.
Crossbones is set on the island of New Providence and set in 1715, where Blackbeard (Edward Teach) rules his rogue thieves and outlaws. It's described as a place like no other, and a threat to international commerce.
Parkes said that “Over the last three decades, John Malkovich has occupied a singular place in the world of international film, theater, and even opera. We’re awed by the opportunity to bring his brilliance to the small screen — particularly in service of the character of Blackbeard, as so brilliantly conceived by Neil Cross.”
Malkovich, who can bee seen in the well-received Summit Entertainment zombie romantic comedy Warm Bodies, is up next in Red 2 with Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Anthony Hopkins, Mary-Louise Parker, Catherine Zeta-Jones and David Thewlis.
