Veteran actor John Goodman joined Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock and 12-year-old Jeopardy! prodigy Thomas Horn in director Stephen Daldry’s adaptation of Jonathan Safran Foer's Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Eric Roth wrote the adaptation, about 9-year-old Oskar Schell (Horn) whose father is killed in the World Trade Center terrorist attack and sets out on a journey after finding one of his father's keys.
Goodman, recently seen in the HBO drama Treme, joined the cast as a doorman in Oskar’s apartment building.
Horn signed on to his first film role after winning $31K in prize money on the popular TV game show Jeopardy! in October.
Daldry made news choosing the young first-time actor for the lead despite his character appearing in every scene in a very demanding role.
Filming is set to begin this winter on the Warner Bros./Paramount co-production with Scott Rudin producing.
