Plenty of casting news this week kept the fan base excited for writer/director Fede Alvarez's reboot of the cult classic THE EVIL DEAD.
First, Variety confirmed that Red Riding Hood star Shiloh Fernandez joined the film as the leader of the group of teens battling the beyond-the-grave beasties in an isolated cabin. Just yesterday, Deadline reported that Suburgatory actress Jane Levy replaced Lily Collins as the female lead.
Levy, 22, recently appeared in the Sundance drama Nobody Walks and wrapped the upcoming Victoria Justice comedy Fun Size as well as a recurring role on the hit Showtime series Shameless.
Of course, there was also some shocking news for the Evil Dead faithful this week. Variety also reported that Bruce Campbell's character Ash would not be in the franchise reboot. Yet, Campbell previously tweeted to fans that he would appear on-screen in addition to his co-producer duties on The Evil Dead.
Will there be an Ash flashback of some sort, or does Alvarez have something truly original in mind for the original franchise hero Ash?
Original director Sam Raimi is producing alongside his Ghost House partner Rob Tapert as part of a deal with Sony Pictures Worldwide and FilmDistrict.
Evil Dead fans, what do you think of Shiloh Fernandez and Jane Levy as the heroes of the movie?
