Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained casts Jamie Foxx in lead to play freed slave!
Sources tell Variety that the actor has landed the lead as Django, a freed slave who teams with a German bounty hunter against an evil plantation owner in order to save retrieve Broomhilda, his long-lost love.
Kerry Washington is rumored to snag that part, although there are others contending. Washington seems likely after working with Foxx on Ray.
Playing Calvin Candie the slavemaster is Leonardo DiCaprio while Christoph Waltz is in as Django's mentor and friend and mentor.
Also expected is Samuel L. Jackson as Candie's right-hand man called Stephen.
The Weinstein Company will distribute Django Unchained on U.S. soil.
