Isla Fisher in talks for Dan Schechter's THE SWITCH

11/15/2012 by Peter Dimako | Source: Variety

Isla Fisher in talks to join John Hawkes and Jennifer Aniston in The Switch adaptation of Elmore Leonard's crime drama directed by Dan Schechter.

Variety reports that this is a prequel to Quentin Tarantino's Jackie Brown where Hawkes and Yaslin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def?) play younger versions of the original's Louis Gara (Robert De Niro) and Ordell Robbie (Samuel L. Jackson).

The Switch takes place fifteen years prior to the events in Jackie Brown and tells of Ordell and Louis as they band together to kidnap Aniston's Mickey Dawson character, wife of a corrupt Detroit real estate lawyer. After the lawyer refuses to dish out the ransom money, the duo are forced to reconceive their plan and the angry housewife sets out to get her revenge by using the ex-cons.

If a deal works out, Fisher would play Melanie, played in Jackie Brown by Jane Fonda - a character who, as the kidnapping falls to pieces, starts to interfere.

Also in the cast is Ty Burrell who plays a witness to the kidnapping. Dennis Quaid is no longer in The Switch due to scheduling conflicts with Vegas on CBS.

Fisher's up next in DreamWorks Animation's Rise of the Guardians which finds theaters via Paramount Pictures on November 21st. After that, catch her in Baz Lurhmann's The Great Gatsby with Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, Tobey Maguire, Adelaide Clemens, Joel Edgerton and Callan McAuliffe.
