HUGO wins National Board of Reviews Best Film Award

Best Film, Best Director Awards go to Martin Scorsese's Hugo

The John Logan-adapted family adventure based on the Brian Selznick book "The Invention of Hugo Cabret," was honored with top honors, while George Clooney snagged Best Actor for his work in Fox Searchlight Pictures' drama The Descendants.

Actress Award-wise, Tilda Swinton impressed most with her work in We Need to Talk About Kevin, and Shailene Woodley won Best Supporting Actress for her work in Alexander Payne's Descendants.

Michael Fassbender received the Spotlight Award for his contribution to Shame, A Dangerous Method, Jane Eyre, and X-Men: First Class. while Felicity Jones was honored with the Breakthrough Performance prize for Paramount's Like Crazy. Top animated film went to Gore Verbinski-directed Rango, starring Johnny Depp.
