Helen Mirren returned to the public eye this week via the DVD release of John Madden's spy thriller The Debt, where she plays a hardened Israeli spy with Jessica Chastain as a younger version of the character.
2011 was a busy year for Mirren with roles in the comedy remake Arthur and director Rowan Joffe’s reinterpretation of the British noir Brighton Rock.
Mirren looked to add another project to her calendar by continuing talks to join ALFRED HITCHCOCK AND THE MAKING OF PSYCHO.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mirren looked to play Hitchock’s wife Alma Reville with Anthony Hopkins onboard as Hitchcock.
John McLaughlin adapted Stephen Rebello’s book about Hitchcock deciding to make the horror picture Psycho and having to fund the movie himself after every studio turned him down.
Montecito Picture Co. signed on to produce the project, which shifted to Fox Searchlight after languishing at Paramount for four years.
Hitchcock fans, what do you think about a true Hollywood story about the making of Psycho?
