Guillermo del Toro's PACIFIC RIM now being converted into 3D

09/12/2012 by Peter Dimako | News Source/s: Variety

Warner Bros. Pictures' Guillermo del Toro film Pacific Rim will be converted into 3D, reports Variety. The film which opens July 12th, should have been made in 3D in the first place, since it has all the makings of a great summer 3D tentpole - Aliens vs. Giant Robots? Why not.

At Comic-Con 2012, Del Toro showed hesitation in going 3D for the film due to the movie's large creatures. The director of Hellboy and its sequel, as well as Pan's Labyrinth, has never released a 3D pic.

Pacific Rim produced by Legendary Pictures' Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni, is scripted by Travis Beacham. Story tells of an alien attack which threatens the Earth's existence, leaving giant robots piloted by humans that are deployed to fight off the menace.
