HBO has optioned Corinne May Botz's (Southland) Nutshell Studies Hitchcockian drama which will be executive produced and directed by Guillermo del Toro, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
Novelist Sara Gran is on board to write and serve as co-executive producer on the project which is set in the 1950s and follows a small-town housewife who obsessed with solving brutal crimes.
Also serving as executive producer is del Toro's manager Gary Unger.
Film-wise, Del Toro, known for greats like the Hellboy franchise and stunning Pan's Labyrinth, directs the Pacific Rim science fiction actioner which opens next May. That cast includes Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Willem Dafoe, Rinko Kikuchi, Max Martini, Rob Kazinsky and Clifton Collins Jr. and Diego Klattenhoff.
