FX rewarded its top-rated show SONS OF ANARCHY with a sixth season renewal after committing to a fifth season last October.
Variety also confirmed a new three-year pact between Twentieth Century Fox TV and Sons of Anarchy creator and executive producer Kurt Sutter; a contract that extends one year beyond the show’s six seasons.
For fans of the motorcycle club drama starring Ron Perlman, Sutter’s new three-year-contract raises the hope that Sons of Anarchy may extend to seven seasons.
Sutter, who helped establish the FX cable network with his L.A. cop drama The Shield, also gained the option to write and produce for other FX and 20th Century TV series.
In addition to Sons of Anarchy, Sutter also wrote the script for the boxing drama Southpaw with Eminem attached to play the lead.
"In a way, this is a continuation of the 8 Mile story but rather than a literal biography, we are doing a metaphorical narrative of the second chapter of his life," Sutter said in an earlier interview about Southpaw. "He'll play a world champion boxer who really hits a hard bottom and has to fight to win back his life for his young daughter."
Sons of Anarchy fans, are you thrilled about the possibility of seven seasons of your favorite series?
