Frank Grillo (Warrior, The Grey) is close to joining Jason Statham and James Franco in Gary Fleder's Homefront written by Sylvester Stallone. Variety reports that Grillo is in final negotiations for the MIllennium Entertainment release which follows an ex-DEA agent (played by Statham) who seeks a new start in a quiet, small town. Turns out he chose the wrong place as the town's filled with violence and drug-traffickers, as well as Franco's character, a Meth magnate. Damn! You'd think the guy would do some research in this day and age with the stats available online? How do people sell this stuff, and worse off, how do talented actors consider them? Moving on...
Still, with Gary Fleder on board, known for films like Runaway Jury, Imposter, Don't Say a Word and Kiss the Girls, there's some light at the end of the tunnel.
Kevin King and Avi Lerner are produce.
Grillo, an impressive actor, can be seen in Ruben Fleischer's upcoming Gangster Squad with Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Josh Brolin, Sean Penn, Giovanni Ribisi, Anthony Mackie and Michael Peña on board. He's also in post-production for Kathryn Bigelow's film on the hunt for al-Qaeda terrorist Osama bin Laden - Zero Dark Thrity.
